learn about the Musician

The following questions have all been asked to me over the years. If you have a question, feel free to contact me and I'll post/answer it.
Who are your musical influences?
Any music that I hear will in one way or another influence me. The creation of music is as much about inspiration as it is about originality and craftsmanship. To provide a definite list of artists who have influenced my work would be as simple as saying "any that I have heard", whether good or bad.
What I can do, however, is point out a handful of artists who stand out within the classical genre, if only because they have created the music that has truly moved me over the years. These artists are as varied as Beethoven, Puccini, Mozart, and Charles Ives.
Who do you deem the greatest musician, living or dead?
Ludwig van Beethoven.
What are some of your current musical interests?
While my primary musical focus remains classical music, I have increasingly become interested in many "mainstream" styles of music, including electronic pop and "indie" pop. Bands such as The Postal Service, Sigur Ros, and The Decemberists have sparked my interest for either their fantastic song writing or poetic lyrics. I believe that the independent pop music scene has shifted its focus away from commercially mass-produced songs to musically-oriented art. This is a very healthy and much needed shift in the world of pop music.
Where do you see your musical career going?
I have a true passion for music, but I also understand that the current state of classical music is not a healthy one. Therefore, I write music for my own, and hopefully, your enjoyment. A career as a composer is not what I am seeking, although I would welcome it.
What projects are you currently working on?
Currently, none! Work, personal matters, and other factors have all prevented me from creating new music. Recently I composed a short piece of music for a parody perfume commercial which can be heard here. Other than this, I hope to create some new pieces in the near future. Of course, once completed, they will be posted on this website!
